Navigating Social Events

How to enjoy yourself without derailing your progress.

Social dining

One of the biggest fears women have when starting a new health plan is: "What about my social life?" You don't want to be the one picking at a side salad while everyone else enjoys a celebration.

The good news is that you don't have to be perfect. You just need a strategy.

1. Never Arrive Hungry

Eat a high-protein snack (like a handful of almonds or a small protein shake) before you leave the house. This stabilizes your hunger hormones so you can make rational choices instead of diving into the bread basket.

2. Scan the Menu First

Most restaurants have menus online. Decide what you're going to order before you get there. Look for grilled proteins and steamed vegetables. Ask for sauces on the side.

3. The "One Drink" Rule

Alcohol is a toxin that pauses fat burning. If you choose to drink, stick to one clear spirit (like vodka or tequila) with soda water and lime. Alternate every sip of alcohol with a sip of water.

Remember, the goal is connection, not gluttony. Focus on the conversation and the people, and let the food be secondary.
